Table 42. Troubleshoot the NSU
Symptoms
NSU is up, but L0 or
L1 LED is solid red.
NSU is up, but L0/L1
LED is flashing green.
Distorted voice or loud
noise on NSU.

Troubleshooting ASUs

Probable Cause
No physical
connection to far end.
Layer 2 is not up.
Layer 2 protocol
mismatch.
Voice Encoding is not
set properly.
Verify the status of the LEDs (see Appendix E on
page 253).
Verify that the IP addresses reserved for the ASUs
are not used elsewhere on the system (see "Installing
3300 Analog Service Units" on page 44).
Troubleshooting
Corrective Action
1.
Verify and fix wiring.
2.
Check DIP Switch 6. If
it is UP, set it to DOWN to
see if this makes any
difference (see Table 9
on page 32).
Check your IMAT
database and confirm
with your Telco to see
which protocol you
should use.
Change Voice
encoding in the link
descriptor to invert for
T1, and ADI invert for
CEPT.
