Troubleshooting NSUs
To troubleshoot NSU-Related Problems
1. Verify the status of the L0/L1 LED.
2. Record the error message(s) from the NSU
3. If you cannot solve the problem using Table 42, go
4. If you still can't find the problem, call Mitel Networks
Table 42. Troubleshoot the NSU
Symptoms
NSU fails to come up
after upgrade or new
installation (Both the
red and amber
LEDs— just the
amber LED—are
marching between
L0/L1).
Maintenance port, then go through Table 42 below.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have the following
information on hand before calling:
• Error message from NSU Maintenance port.
• Boot up sequence from NSU Maintenance port.
• Symptom appears in Troubleshooting table?
• PRI: can access IMAT database?
Probable Cause
Automatic NSU
upgrade is in progress
Troubleshooting
Corrective Action
Wait 15–20 minutes
for the NSU upgrade
to complete.
CAUTION: Do not
power down when the
amber LED is
marching between
L0/L1. Powering
down NSU will
potentially corrupt
NSU software.
