The size sensor 2 is used only for distinguishing A4 from Letter.
(Although the sensor is also on for A3, it is ignored.)
(3) Outline of operation
Drive motor clock pulses are counted from the start of original transporting until the aligning sen-

sor is turned off. In addition, the status of the size sensor 1 is detected for determining the original
size.
After the original size has been determined, the size data of the feed direction and the widthwise

size data created by inferring from that of the feed direction are sent out to the copier.
