Starting Problems

All Electrical and Gauges Are Dead
Cause
Low battery charge.
Thermal circuit breaker No. 1 open.
Key switch fuse open.
Faulty key switch wiring.
Faulty key switch.
Starter Solenoid Clicks, But Start Will Not Crank
Cause
Low battery charge.
Loose or corroded battery cables. Loose or correded
ground.
Faulty wiring at starter.
Loose starter mounting bolts.
Faulty starter.
Faulty starter solenoid.
Nothing Happens When Start Attempt is Made
Cause
Faulty ignition (key) switch or wiring.
Traction neutral switch circuit open
Short circuit or open circuit between controller and
start relay.
Start relay fault.
Wiring between start relay and starter faulty.
Start solenoid faulty.
Reelmaster 6500–D/6700–D
Correction
Charge battery. Replace battery if it will not hold a
charge.
Find cause for open circuit breaker and correct. Circuit
breaker will reset automatically after it has cooled.
Check fuse and replace if fuse is open. If fuses burn
out often, find and correct cause. NOTE: If auxiliary
lights are added, this fuse must be replaced with a 15A
fuse.
Repair wiring.
Test key switch and replace if necessary.
Correction
Charge battery. Replace battery if it will not hold a
charge.
Clean and tighten or repair as necessary.
Repair wiring.
Clean mounting surface and tighten bolts.
Repair or replace starter.
Replace solenoid.
Correction
Test switch and replace if faulty. Correct wiring prob-
lem if necessary.
Check traction control linkage and adjust or repair.
Check wiring and repair if necessary.
Test relay and replace if necessary.
Check wiring and repair if necessary.
Test start solenoid and replace if necessary.
