5.13 CPU Modules

Perform the following procedure to remove a CPU module:
1. Extend the chassis for service (see Section 5.2).
2. Remove the top cover (see Section 5.4).
3. Put on an antistatic wriststrap.

An antistatic wriststrap must be worn when handling any module to prevent
damage to the module.

4. Pull up on the module levers
(see Figure 5-12).
5. Pull the CPU module straight up out of its slot (see Figure 5-12).
To replace the CPU module, refer to Figure 5-12 and reverse steps 1 through 5 of the removal
procedure.
____________________________ Caution __________________________
If a battery is replaced on a CPU module, observe correct polarity when installing
the new battery to prevent the danger of the battery exploding. Replace the battery
with only the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose
of used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions.
