Registration Reference Manual
Sex (M/F/I or Blank)
Select the sex for the selection criteria, which can be male, female, indeterminate or blank
for all sexes.
There are two other selection fields to allow you to incorporate an element of
'randomness' into the selection:
• Record to start at: here you can enter a number and the selection process will
discard all matching patients until it has found that number of patients. From then
on, it will add them to the print file; and
• Record interval: here you can enter a number (for example, 10) and the process
will only add every 10th matching patient to the print file.
All the selections entered will combine to narrow down the search, for example, if you
enter a GP code and an address code, the process will only select patients matching both.
Any selection fields left blank will not influence the selection process.
Certain defaults will be used if no entry is made in the 'Selection control' and 'Prints'
sections – these will be displayed when a query message to commence the job is displayed.
Ignore patients who have an FP69 status? (Y/N)
This field may contain a value of Y or N. The default value is Y. Entering Y will cause
patients with an FP69 status to be excluded from the selection process. Entering N will
mean patients with an FP69 status will be included.
Record to Start At
Enter a number to begin selecting records, e.g. start selecting from the 49th record onward.
Record Interval
This is interval between record selections. For example, selecting every 10th record,
beginning at the 49th, would return the 59th record, then the 69th, etc.
Path
Information about the selected patients can be written out to a comma-separated Unix file
for use in systems other than NHAIS. Specify the Unix path and filename using the format
/directory/filename.
Prints: Listing (Y/N)
You can control which details are printed within the listing by entering Y or N in the print
options.
The options you can include are:
• NHS – includes the patient's NHS number in the print;
• Code – will print the GP code, national practice code or PCO code at the top of
each page. In addition, this field will determine whether each patient's GP, GP
name, national practice code and PCO code are include within each patient record
within the listing;
• Name – will print the GP name, practice name or PCO name at the top of each
page; and
• Phone – will print the GP phone number, practice phone number or the PCO
phone number at the top of each page.
