Reconciliation Upload Facility
The reconciliation upload facility has been specially developed to allow the controlled
release of large volumes of new postcodes to linked GP Practices using the existing
reconciliation download/upload mechanism. An option has been added to allow any
change of locality, post town or county accompanying a postcode change to be released
to linked practices.
Before using this facility, all PAF updates and any required changes to the Address
Table should already have been applied to the HA's patient database.
The facility does not attempt to update the HA system with any of the download data
and no reports are produced detailing those patients contained in the upload to go back
to the Practice. For a patient to be included in the upload to go back to the Practice, the
following criteria must all be satisfied:
• an NHS Number must be present for the patient in the download data;
• the NHS Number must correspond to a live patient;
• the senior GP of the GP with whom the patient is registered on the HA system
must be the same as the senior GP displayed on the reconciliation upload
screen; and
• the postcode held on the HA system for the patient must not be blank and must
be different to the one in the download data.
The procedure for using the facility largely resembles the one which should be adhered
to when reconciling any GP Practice and is described below.
