For example, for a 'dispensing run', an output record of:
D81001,5NH,EX6 8TB,Y,16
indicates that practice D81001, within PCO 5NH, has 16 registered patients with a
postcode of EX6 8TB, and they each have a dispensing flag.
Count by Practice by Post Code by Gender by Five Year Age Band File
This file will contain a single header record, containing the field headings for each
field in the data records. The header is followed by multiple data records, the format of
which is as follows:
• Practice Code
• PCO Code (the PCO of the practice)
• Postcode
• multiple gender and five year age bands, for example "Male 25-29" or "Female
45-49"
Additional Download Information
With regard to the contents of the data files, please be aware of the following:
• In the unlikely event that the system cannot ascertain the practice code for a
particular GP, the GP's patients will have a practice code of "UNK".
• Similarly, if the system cannot ascertain the PCO code for a particular practice,
the practice's patients will have a PCO code of "UNK".
• The file contains information relating to all real GPs together with the ZZZ001
and ZZZ002 dummy GPs. The file does not include information for dummy
GPs ZZZ100+.
• The records for dummy GPs ZZZ001 and ZZZ002 will have a PCO Code of
"UNK".
• Patient postcodes will be included with a single, embedded space character, for
example, E1 1XT, EX1 1XT or EX12 1XT.
• Patients with no postcode will be group together by practice code with a
postcode value of a single space character.
