Additional Registration Utilities
Correct Historic Medical Record Status
This utility allows you to amend "historic" Medical Record status information for a
patient.
HAs may view the current Medical Record status for a patient using the MR screen
(see Section 8, Chapter 2). In addition, HAs may use the MR screen to view a patient's
medical history. However, this screen does not allow changes to be made to the status
of "historic" Medical Record entries.
If a patient changes his/her GP/HA of registration twice in quick succession, it is
possible for a second "awaited" Medical Record status to be created against a patient
before the first "awaited" Medical Record status has been resolved. This can be
illustrated by the following example:
• A patient Transfers In to an HA area, and registers with GP X. This will create
a Medical Record status entry of "AFH" for GP X against the patient's
previous HA.
• The patient is then Internally Transferred to GP Y before the Medical Records
are received from the patient's previous HA. This creates a further Medical
Record status entry of "AFH" for GP Y against the patient's previous HA.
• When the patient's Medical Records are finally received at the HA, the
patient's current Medical Record status is changed from "AFH" to "FGP", and
the Medical Records are forwarded to GP Y. However, this leaves the patient's
"historic" Medical Record status for GP X against the patient's previous HA as
"AFH".
The "Correct historic MR status" utility is provided to allow HAs to resolve these
"historic" anomalies.
Directions

whose historic Medical Record entry you wish to correct.
2. Enter the patient's NHS number. When you then press Enter, the patient's
details and historic Medical Record entries will be displayed on the screen.
(If you just press Enter without typing in an NHS number, the
Additional Registration Utilities menu will be redisplayed.)
