Removing the Display Mask

To remove the T4500/T4600 Family computer's display mask, follow the steps below and refer to
Figure 4-28.
1. Turn off the power to the computer; disconnect the AC adapter, power cord and all external
cables connected to it.
2. Remove the battery pack, optional memory card, optional PCMCIA card and top cover as
described in Sections 4.2 through 4.5.
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the display assembly. However, the top cover must be
removed to clear the hinge flanges.
3. Remove two rubber cushions from the top corners of the display to expose two screws
securing the display mask (Figure 4-28).
4. Remove the two M2.5x4 screws (T4500/T4600) or two M2.5x6 screws (T4500C/T4600C)
that were covered by the cushions (Figure 4-28).
5. Carefully insert your fingers between the mask and the LCD panel and pry open the latches.
Start with the two center latches across the bottom of the display mask. Then, unlatch the
large and small display supports.
6. Continue unlatching the mask along the sides (three latches on each side) and top (four
latches across the top). Be careful when pulling the mask from the display around the latch
hooks so you don't break a hook.
