4.24 Battery Release Latch
Removing the Battery Release Latch
To remove the T4500/T4600 Family computer's battery release latch, follow the steps below and
refer to Figure 4-52.
1. Turn off the power to the computer; disconnect the AC adapter, power cord and all external
cables connected to it.
2. Remove the battery pack, optional memory card, optional PCMCIA card, top cover, key-
board, status indicator panel (sub LCD), and the protective metal sheet (HDD section) as
described in Sections 4.2 through 4.8.
3. Lift out the butterfly spring, round spring, winged latch and latch cover.
Installing the Battery Release Latch
To install the battery release latch follow the steps below and refer to Figure 4-52.
1. Install the winged latch.
2. Install the butterfly spring on the spindle, making sure one wing of the spring fits into the
winged latch and the other fits inside the containment bar.
3. Insert the round spring.
4. Insert the battery release latch cover.
5. Install the protective metal sheet, status indicator panel, keyboard, top cover, optional
PCMCIA card, optional memory card, and the battery pack as described in Sections 4.8
through 4.2.
