4.12 Backup Battery & RTC Battery
Removing the Backup Battery & RTC Battery
To remove the T4500/T4600 Family computer's backup battery and RTC battery, follow the steps
below and refer to Figure 4-25.
1. Turn off the power to the computer; disconnect the AC adapter, power cord and all external
cables connected to it.
2. Remove the battery pack, optional memory card, optional PCMCIA card, top cover, key-
board, status indicator panel, HDD and display assembly as described in sections 4.2
through 4.9.
3. Disconnect the backup battery cable and RTC battery cable from their connectors on the
system PCB. Before removing the batteries, note the location of each battery and how their
cables are routed. Also note the location of the tape securing the backup battery to the
protective metal plate (Figure 4-25).
