CAUTION: If you replace the flexible cable with a new one, be sure to fold it and wrap
tape around the cable as indicated in Figure 4-17 so that it lies flat and will not be pinched
by the top cover or other component.

3. Seat the HDD in the frame. As you seat the HDD, a tab on the front right has two holes in
it. The hole on the right should fit over a plastic guide pin on the computer. The other hole
is for a screw.
4. Insert the speaker and ball-point connector. Make sure the sides of each are seated in
their respective slots in the computer (Figure 4-15).
5. Connect the HDD flexible cable to PJ5 on the system board. Connect the FDD flexible
cable to PJ4 on the system board (Figure 4-15).
6. Replace the M2.5x6 screw securing the ball-point mouse connector (Figure 4-15).
7. Reseat the protective metal plate, making sure the holes for screws match corresponding
holes on the computer and the ground cables are routed above the plate (Figure 4-14).
8. Replace the two M2x3 black screws securing the protective metal plate to the FDD, two
M2.5x6 screws securing the plate to the HDD, and the eight M2.5x6 screws and one
M2.5x10 screw along the plate's rim securing the plate, support bracket, and ground
cables to the computer (Figure 4-14).
9. Install the status indicator panel, keyboard, top cover, optional PCMCIA card, optional
memory card and battery pack as described in Sections 4.7 through 4.2.
