Exchanging Messages

Receive and read emails

Depending on your notification settings, the phone plays a ring tone, vibrates, or
displays the email message briefly in the Status bar when you receive a new email.
A new email message (
Status bar to notify you of a new email message. For more information on email
notification settings, refer to the "Set new email notifications" section later in this
chapter.
To open the email message
Do any of the following:
 Tap and hold the notifications area of the Status bar, then slide it down to open
the notifications panel. Tap the new email message to view it.
While in the Google Mail Inbox, tap a conversation to open it.

To open or collapse messages
When you open a conversation for reading, the subject will appear in a box at the
top of the screen and the latest message will appear at the bottom of the thread.
All read messages are collapsed.

To expand all read message headers,
tap the X read messages header.
When the read messages are

expanded, their individual headers
display.
Tap the header to open or
collapse the message body.
