Chapter 6 Installing Internal Options

6.7.3 How to Install the 5-inch Internal Device

Perform the following procedures to install a 5-inch internal device. To install Internal HDD Unit Bay
Conversion kit, the procedures differ. For the procedures, refer to "6.7.4 How to Install Internal HDD
Unit Bay Conversion kit" ( pg.184).

Turn off the server and connected devices, and unplug all power cables from
the outlet.

Remove the side and front covers.

Touch a metal part of the server to discharge static electricity.

Remove the dummy unit.
Pull the dummy unit out slowly, keeping the latches on the 5-inch storage bay rails (on both
sides) pressed inward.

Remove the 5-inch storage bay rails from the removed dummy unit.
Remove eight screws securing the 5-inch storage bay rails to remove it.

Make sure to keep the removed dummy units for later use.
