This state indicates that you want an autoexposure setting and the scanner believes that
it has autoexposure data available for this image. Consequently, it will use the data it
already has.

This is the common state after a preview scan and before a final scan.

Forcing an Autoexposure Cycle

It is sometimes desirable to force a new autoexposure cycle, even when the scanner
has what it believes is correct autoexposure data for the image. This is because image
characteristics, such as exposure, can vary widely, even within the same film type. To
accomplish this, it is necessary to remove the check mark next to the A
box.
This can be achieved by double clicking on the A

The first click removes the check mark and the "X" in the autoexposure cycle
check box. The second click reinstates the "X" in the A
adjacent check mark. This is shown in Figure 10.8.

Autoexposure data is stored in the scanner, not in the plug-in. If the scanner is

powered off, the autoexposure information is lost.
