Chapter 10
Performing a Preview or Final Scan
There are two types of scans, the preview scan and the final scan. Note that only
the final scan creates a disk file you can use in other applications.
This chapter will cover the controls for performing a basic preview or final scan.
The chapters following will cover in detail the specific scanner controls affecting the pre-
view and final scans.

The Scan Controls

There are three controls directly related to performing a scan. First, the P
button, used to initiate a preview scan. Second, the S
scan. And third, the C

The Preview Button

Clicking the mouse on the P
scanner to perform a preview scan. The preview scan enables you to see the film image
on the screen and carry out any adjustments before the final scan is performed. The
preview scan contains the entire film area.

The Abort Keystroke

Macintosh: You can abort a preview or final scan at any time by holding down
the "ð" key and striking the period "." key, as seen in Figure 10.3.
