Master Gamma Curve

The Master gamma curve is viewed by clicking on the Master curve button in the
Gamma Curve Editor dialog, shown in Figure 16.14. This control is only active when a
color film type is selected in the Scan dialog. Adjustments to the Master curve are
applied to all of the primary curves before they are sent to the scanner, as shown in
Figure 16.11. For example, raising the brightness of the Master gamma curve would
raise the brightness of the red, green and blue content in the image. The Master curve is
initialized as a diagonal linear function representing a 1:1 input/output relationship.

Red, Green, and Blue (RGB) Gamma Curves

At times it is desirable to view all of the gamma curves simultaneously. These
include the Master curve, and the R, G, and B primary gamma curves. This is accom-
plished by clicking and holding the RGB button in the Gamma Curve Editor dialog,
shown in Figure 16.15. As long as the button is held down, all of the curves will be dis-
played. A typical set of curves is shown in Figure 16.16.
This control is only active when a color film type is selected in the Scan dialog.
