Producing a Scan
Windows: Launch the Nikon Control software by double-clicking on its icon.
The Nikon Scanner plug-in will then be loaded and the Main Scan dialog displayed.
If you are using the Nikon Scanner plug-in with a third-party application that is
supported by the Nikon Installer, select the N
menu in the application.
Commands from the user interface can be invoked via a keyboard shortcut, by
!
holding down the Alt key and striking the letter which is underlined on the com-
mand button. For example, the P
down the Alt key and striking the "V" key, the letter underlined on the P
button. This keyboard shortcut is not available for every command.
Step 3. Select the film type and orientation
Step 3 requires that you make sure that the film type is correctly indicated. There
are four possible film types:
1. Positive color (slide)
2. Negative color (print film)
3. Positive black and white
4. Negative black and white
The scanner will perform image processing based on the film type selected, so it is
critical to indicate the correct film type. The film type should be selected before a pre-
view or final scan is executed.
The film type is selected through the F
box, as shown in Figure 6.1a for Macintosh, and Figure 6.1b for Windows. This is
accomplished by holding down the mouse button within the selection box and dragging
until the desired film type is highlighted in black. The mouse button is then released
and the selected film type becomes active.
