Performing a Preview or Final Scan
Autofocus – LS-3510AF only
One of the key features of the LS-3510AF is its focusing and autofocusing fea-
tures. This eliminates the need for different thickness slide holders, as used by the
LS-3500. In almost all cases, the standard autofocus will assure you of the sharpest
image possible.
The Autofocus button, shown in Figure 10.9, is only enabled when an LS-
3510AF is connected. When this button is clicked, the scanner will attempt to autofo-
cus on the film. If successful, the focus position is placed in the F
The scanner may not be able to focus on a slide if it has low contrast or few sharp
details. This should be done for every slide. When the A
plug-in will automatically perform an autofocus the first time a preview is performed or
before the final scan. If the A
reset and another autofocus will be performed before the next preview or final scan.

In some cases, such as with blurry images or warped film, you may wish to manu-
ally focus on an area of the slide. This is easily accomplished by clicking the manual
