Inspect the ring gear teeth for wear and damage
I n s p e c t t h e c l u t c h d i s c m a t i n g s u r f a c e o n t h e
flywheel for wear, cracks, and burning.
Measure the flywheel runout using a dial indicator
t h r o u g h a t l e a s t t w o f u l l t u r n s P u s h a g a i n s t t h e
f l y w h e e l e a c h t i m e y o u t u r n i t t o t a k e u p t h e
crankshaft thrust washer clearance.
N O T E : T h e r u n o u t c a n b e m e a s u r e d w i t h e n g i n e
installed.
Standard (New): 0.05 mm (0.002 inl max.
Service Limit:
0.15 mm {0.006 in)

lf the runout exceeds the service limit. replace the
flywheel.
Turn the inner race o{ the ball bearing with your tin-
ger. The ball bearing should turn smoothly and qui
etly. lf the inner race does not turn smoothly and
q u i e t l y , r e p l a c e t h e b e a r i n g . C h e c k t h a t t h e b a l l
bearing outer race fits tightly in the flywheel. lf it is
loose. replace the ball bearing

2 . Remove the flywheel mounting bolts in a crisscross
pattern in several steps as shown, and remove the
flywheel,
