1 - INTRODUCTION
1.1 - Introduction
Prior to the initial start-up of the NXHP units, the
people involved should be thoroughly familiar with
these instructions and technical data for the
installation.
This document is for informational purposes only.
Although all statements and information contained
herein are believed to be accurate, they are
presented without guarantee or warranty of any
kind, expressed or implied. This presentation
makes only general recommendations which do
not compensate for individual guidance and
instructions and Carrier shall in no event be liable

Group companies) does not assume liability for
any actions taken by readers or users of this
document which may cause unintended damage
or injury because of any recommendations or
inferences made within this document. The
customer and installer remain sole responsible
to inform and train themselves, as well as to
comply with all applicable regulations (e.g.
European, national or local). The customer and/
or installer shall conduct their own risk assessment
of the installation of the equipment and remain
sole reponsible of said risk assessment.
They are designed for an operating life of 15 years
by assuming a 75% utilisation factor; that is
approximately 100,000 operating hours.
The procedures in this manual are arranged in
the sequence required for machine installation,
start-up, operation and maintenance.
Be sure you understand and follow the procedures
and safety precautions contained in the instructions
supplied with the machine, as well as those listed
in this guide, such as: protective clothing such as
gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes and
appropriate tools, and suitable qualifications
(electrical, air conditioning, local legislation).
To find out which European directives these units
fall under, check the declarations of conformity.
1.2 - Safety
GENERAL WARINING: this unit uses very pure
propane (R290) as a refrigerant. R290 is
flammable and odorless. Do not try to replace
the refrigerant with domestic propane. In the
event of a leak, refrigerant and air mixture may
6
form a flammable atmosphere. Any ignition
source, such as open flamme, hot surfaces
(Above 370°C) or any device potentially source
of electric arc (sockets, electrical switches, static
discharge, ...) must be kept at least one meter
distance from the unit.
Take protective measures to prevent all
electrostatic discharges.
All additional air vent valves required to be
installed by the Installer/Customer (see IOM §2.3)
on the customer hydraulic circuit shall be vented
outside the building. If venting outside is not
possible, they must be placed in a well-vented
ignition free area. There is a risk of fire if ignition
sources are present in the area of air vent valves
in the unlikely case of propane leak into the water
circuit.
