By default, Microsoft Windows Vista does not include the telnet client, while
Microsoft Windows XP does.
To install the telnet client, perform the following. Note that to install anything in
Microsoft Windows Vista, you must be logged on to the computer with a user
account that has administration privileges.
1. Open the Windows Control Panel and click on the Classic view link in the
sidebar.
2. Select the Administrative Tools utility. The Programs and features pane opens
inside the Control Panel window.
3. Select Local Security Policy from the list of options provided. The Local Security
Policy dialog box opens.
4. Select Turn Windows features on or off from the Task sidebar. The Windows
features dialog box opens.
5. Select the telnet client option and click on the OK button.
A dialog box appears, confirming the installation of new features.

To access Matrox Iris GT using a telnet application, open a command prompt
(DOS box) and type the following at the command prompt:
telnet IrisName
By default, telnet is enabled on the Matrox Iris portal website. You can enable or
disable your Matrox Iris GT telnet server through the Telnet / FTP server settings
page of the Matrox Iris portal website.
