- To use an output pull-up resistor on the breakout board, turn on one output
pull-up resistor switch for each auxiliary output signal used. The output pull-up
resistor switch box (SW7) has 4 switches, each one representing one of the four
auxiliary output signals of your Matrox Iris GT. To use Matrox Iris GT
auxiliary output signal 4 (AUX(USER)_IND_OUT4), turn on the output
pull-up resistor switch 1 (SW7[1]).
Note that the amount of resistance provided by your breakout board is 3 k
which is suitable for a 24 V power supply. If another level of resistance is
required, an external pull-up resistor must be used.
For more information on the output pull-up resistor switch box (SW7), see the
Output pull-up resistor switch box subsection of the Switch boxes section.
• When connecting to a TTL device, you must add an external pull-up resistor
between the third party device and the breakout board. The breakout board's
output pull-up resistor is too powerful for a TTL device to use safely. To add an
external resistor, see how to do so for a PNP-compatible PLC device.
• When connecting to an inductive load device, use an external diode between the
+VDC and your third-party device.
