4.18. Heat Sinks
Active heat sinks cool processors. To achieve optimal cooling performance, the underside of the heat sink must be
properly attached to the processor with TIM. The mechanical performance of the heat sink is designed to meet the
requirements of Intel processors. The heat sink is necessary to maintain CPU temperature at or below temperature
limits.
4.18.1. Installing a Heat Sink
To install a heat sink:
1.
Place the heat sink on top of the CPU, until it is seated firmly in place.
2.
Tighten the four retaining screws clockwise, in the order shown, to secure the heat sink.

Connect the CPU fan cable to the system board.
4.
Install the system board tray.
5.
Install the top cover.
