Balancing the wheels
How to fit a hidden adhesive weight
The wheel rotates when the wheel guard is open.
Make sure that the wheel is not blocked by a tool or similar
item.

Press the START key.
The wheel rotates by maximum one revolution and is braked
such that the hidden adhesive weight can be fitted exactly per-
pendicular to and above the main shaft.

If necessary, index the wheel to the exact position for
correction in the right correction plane. On reaching the
correction position only the two arrow-heads light up
(Fig. 44, Item 2).

Press the pedal of the main shaft lock to hold the wheel in
this position.
D
Clean the fitting position before attaching the adhesive
weights.
D
Centre and clamp an adhesive weight as indicated by the
unbalance readings in the weight holder of the gauge
head and remove the cover film (Fig. 45).

Approach the gauge head with the weight to the weight
fitting position until the Auto-Stop-System (ASS) locks
the gauge arm and the right digital display shows zero
(Fig. 46 – e.g. Alu 2 mode, right correction plane).

In this position apply the gauge head with the weight on
the rim and firmly press on the applicator to fit the weight
properly on the rim while at the same time removing the
gauge head to its initial position (Fig. 46).

Firmly press the adhesive weight on the rim by hand.
D
After balancing carry out a check run (see § 8.3).
Weight minimisation or optimisation can be carried out
afterwards.
Note when fitting adhesive weights on the outside of
the rim
In some cases (e.g. Alu 1) an adhesive weight has to be fitted on
the outside of the rim.
The right gauge arm does not have an Auto-Stop-System or ap-
plicator, therefore the gauge head with weight should be ap-
proached to the weight fitting position until the right digital dis-
play shows zero. Then press the weight by hand onto the rim
and remove the gauge head downwards.

Fixation d'une masse cachée
La roue tourne alors que le carter est ouvert.
S'assurer que la roue ne soit pas bloquée par un outil ou au-
tre chose.

Appuyer sur la touche START.
La roue effectue au maximum une rotation et freine ensuite de
sorte que la masse cachée puisse être fixée dans le plan de
correction droit, à la verticale au-dessus de l'arbre principal.

Si nécessaire, orienter la roue exactement dans la posi-
tion de correction du plan de correction droit. Quand
cette position est atteinte, seules les deux pointes de flè-
che s'allument (Fig. 44, Pos. 2).

Appuyer sur la pédale de blocage pour bloquer la roue
dans cette position.

Avant de fixer les masses adhésives, nettoyer l'empla-
cement de fixation.

Coincer une masse adhésive au milieu de la tête de pi-
ge suivant le balourd déterminé et enlever le film de pro-
tection (Fig. 45).

Rapprocher la tête de pige avec la masse du positionne-
ment prévu pour la masse, jusqu'à ce que le système
auto-stop (ASS) bloque la pige de mesure et que l'affi-
cheur numérique droit soit sur zéro (Fig. 46 – p. ex.
Alu 2, plan de correction droit).

Dans cette position, poser la tête de pige avec la masse
sur la jante et presser fortement la masse contre la jante
à l'aide de l'applicateur, tandis qu'on retire la pige de me-
sure vers le bas (Fig. 46).

Presser la masse adhésive encore une fois contre la
jante avec la main.

Après l'équilibrage, effectuer une lancée de vérification
(voir § 8.3).
Ensuite, on peut effectuer une minimisation des masses ou une
optimisation de stabilité de marche.
Remarque pour masses adhésives sur le côté extérieur de
la jante
Dans certains cas (p. ex. pour Alu 1), une masse adhésive doit
être fixée sur le côté extérieur de la jante.
La pige de mesure droite ne possède pas de système auto-stop
ni d'applicateur. C'est pourquoi il faut rapprocher la tête de pige
avec la masse du positionnement prévu pour la masse, jusqu'à
ce que l'afficheur numérique indique zéro. Ensuite, presser la
masse manuellement sur la jante et retirer la tête de pige vers le
bas.
