Install the Safety Restraint

The safety restraint is a U-shaped bracket that prevents the chassis from any vertical movement in the
rack in the event of an earthquake. This restraint is important for sites with seismic activity.
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available to install the safety restraint:
Safety restraint (provided in rack mount kit)
Six mounting screws appropriate for your rack (not provided)
A Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2 or number 3, depending on the size of your rack-mounting screws
1. Insert the safety restraint between the rear posts of the rack. It should rest on the top of the chassis
and align with the holes in the rack. See
Figure 51: Insert Safety Restraint
2. Attach the restraint to the rack by installing a mounting screw through each open flange hole and rack
hole.
3. Tighten the mounting screws using the Phillips (+) screwdriver.
