7 Function
VARIOKLAV Type 65 TC benchtop sterilizers are used to sterilize the following
kinds of medical devices:
• packaged solid items (instruments),
• non-packaged solid items (instruments, bowls),
• porous items (textiles, laundry, pads, wound dressings),
• hollow items (hoses suitable for steam sterilization).
Pursuant to EN 868-1, packaged goods may be present in a primary pack
transport pack.
This functional description will start by presenting the basic functions of the
VARIOKLAV Type 65 TC benchtop sterilizer.
The benchtop sterilizer is microprocessor controlled (SPS)
sterilization can proceed without supervision. You must set the desired sterilizing
program on the control panel (6). The P

door lock (yellow). Now the sterilizing chamber (9) is sealed with the pneumatic
door seal (7): The inflatable seal is pressed onto the door using pressurized air.
The sterilizing chamber (9) is automatically heated and deaerated. Once the
specified sterilizing temperature has been reached, the sterilizing time will start
running.
When the sterilizing time is over, the sterilizing chamber (9) steam pressure is
automatically released. The sterilization phase display (25) shows the current
status of program execution. When the program has been completed, the green
START/STOP key (20) will flash. The sterilization phase display (25) will show all-
green sterilization phase segments. Pressing the green START/STOP key (20) will
terminate the program. The door is unlocked, and the door indicator (21) changes
to green again.
The VARIOKLAV Type 65 TC features a process evaluation system that is
independent from the control system. The physical parameters (pressure,
temperature and time) required for ensuring a sterile load are checked here. The
values are shown on the display of the I-M-S printer (14) and printed.
If the sterilization values are within the predefined range, the process evaluation
system accepts and releases the sterilization process.
The printout on the integrated printer (3) will read Program cycle successful.
The sterilizer is ready for a new cycle immediately after the sterilized items have
been removed and the feed water tank has been filled up (if required) with
deionized or distilled water
