Note
1. The standby Controller Link Unit continuously performs self-diagnostic
tests (memory checks and internal loopback tests for communications cir-
cuits).
The internal communications circuits are completely separate from the
transmission path and so the loopback tests will have no influence on net-
work communications. If an error is detected by self-diagnosis, the ERC in-
dicator will turn ON and the details of the error will be reflected in A437 in
the CPU Unit's memory. If this happens, it is probably because of a hard-
ware failure and the Unit must be replaced.
2. The INS, SD, RD, M/A, LNK, and RING LED indicators on Controller Link
Units in standby mode do not turn ON.
This section describes the errors indicated by the indicators on Controller Link
Units used in duplex operation in a CS1D System and provides possible rem-
edies.
For details on troubleshooting for errors that have no relation to duplex opera-
tion, refer to 10-1 Troubleshooting Using Indicators.
