Either an 8-bit or 4-bit format can be set as the method for storing the data link
status. The format setting can be made separately for each node.
• This setting determines the number of words to be used for data link sta-
tus, and also the information to be reflected. (Refer to 5-4-2 Data Link
Status Area.)
• When the 8-bit format is set, the data link status area will be 31 words,
and when the 4-bit format is set it will be 16 words. When the default set-
ting is used for the data link status storage destination, however, this area
is always16 words regardless of the data link status storage format. Even
when the 8-bit format is specified, therefore, the data link status that is
actually reflected will be limited to node addresses 1 to 32.
The settings for the data link status storage format are shown below. The set-
ting is made using the software switch in bit 7 of the DM parameters area. The
address of the software switch will vary depending on the PLC, as follows:
• CS-series Optical Ring Controller Link Units: DM 30000 + 100 x unit num-
ber
• CVM1/CV-series Optical Ring Controller Link Units: DM 2000 + 100 x unit
number
Address N
• This setting cannot be made for Optical Bus Controller Link Units
(CLK11), because it is fixed at the 8-bit format. Always specify 0. With
Optical Bus, the nodes for data links are limited to node addresses 1 to
32, so the data link status is always 16 words.
• The data link status is enabled only when the local node is participating
normally in the data links. Confirm that the Local Node Data Link Partici-
pating Bit is ON before checking the data link status.
Note The data link storage format setting is enabled with the data link startup node
setting. Therefore, if multiple nodes are set as startup nodes, ensure that they
all have the same settings. If there are different settings, the format setting will
depend on the startup node.
