The function "Fill FIFO buffer" is an option. The order
code is Bxx
Block change times can be reduced if a FIFO buffer is used. It only makes sense to use the
function "Fill FIFO buffer" in AUTOMATIC mode. The function is called with G171. It is non
modal. You can program G171 in the same block as movements and auxiliary functions.
G171 stops execution of the part program and fills the FIFO buffer.
Execution remains stopped:
• until the FIFO buffer is full
• until a block with M02 or M30
• until a block with @714
• until a setting data block
To assign the FIFO buffer to a channel set a machine data (MD). If only one FIFO buffer is
assigned to one channel on an NC CPU, the channel can use the full buffer depth of 60
blocks. If the part program is > 60 NC blocks deep, G171 must be reprogrammed.
If two FIFO channels are selected on an NC CPU, these FIFO channels share the buffer
capacity, i.e. 30 NC blocks each. Only up to 2 FIFO channels per NC CPU can be defined.
On a RESET, the FIFO buffer is emptied.
