Dwell G04
Dwell times are required for relief cutting, and sometimes for speed changes and machine
switching functions (steady, tailstock, etc.).
The action of G04 is block by block.
No other functions may be written in a block containing a dwell time.
The dwell time is always stated without sign.
The dwell is entered under address X or F.
0.001
to 99999.999 s for X and
0.001
to 99.999 s for F.
Example:
N.. G04 X11.5 L
F
(Dwell 11.5 s)
A further option is to program the dwell in spindle revolutions. The dwell is then programmed
under address S in the range between 0.01 and 99.9 revolutions.

(Dwell 5 spindle revolutions)

Soft approach to and retraction from the contour

The "Soft aprroach to and retraction from the contour"
To avoid cutting marks a contour is approached and exited tangentially.
Soft approach to and retraction from a contour can be used for all types of tools. "Radius" and
"Wear" are calculated.
Approach to and retraction from the contour can be programmed with the following functions:

Approach in quarter circle

Approach in semi circle

Retraction linear

Retraction in quarter circle

Retraction in semi circle

Retraction from the contour as it was approached
