EM TRACKING UNIT
Warning
When setting up the EM Tracking Unit components take care that the cables do not lead
directly through the planned positions of the OR personnel.
Ensure that there is sufficient slack when connecting cables. Do not strain or place the
attached cables under tension.
Do not place the EM Field Generator cable inside the measurement volume or wrap it
around the EM Field Generator, as it may create a magnetic interference leading to system
accuracy being influenced negatively.
How to Set Up the EM Tracking Unit

Use the transport case to move the EM Tracking Unit components into the OR.
Unpack each component from the transport case in the order that it is stored inside the
case.
Put the EM Field Generator fixation plate onto the OR table, fixing it with the two Velcro
straps.
Position the EM Field Generator fixation plate so that the crosshair is located where the
patient's head will be.
Remove unsterile instrument case from the transport case, placing it on an unsterile sur-
face.
Remove the top layer of the transport case, placing it where it will remain clean and dry.
Fix the EM Field Generator on the EM Field Generator fixation plate by inserting the fix-
ation piece in the corresponding fixation interface. A click is heard when the EM Field
Generator is correctly fixed.
Ensure the yellow stripe on the EM Field Generator faces the patient when assembled.
Lay the cable on the floor in a way that the movement of OR staff is not limited.
Remove the EM Base Station from the bottom layer of the transport case, then connect
the power and data cables to the EM Base Station.
Connect the EM Field Generator cable to the EM Base Station.
Hang the EM Base Station on the OR table rail using the mounting suspension.
Connect the EM cable to the Curve Monitor Cart.
Replace top layer of transport case and store the case out of the way, where it will remain
clean and dry.
