Installing the hard disk drive backplane
Use this information to install the hard disk drive backplane.
Before you begin
Note: This procedure should be performed only by trained service technicians.
Before you install the hard disk drive backplane, complete the following steps:
1. Read "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines" on page 487.
2. If the compute node is installed in an IBM Flex System chassis, remove it (see
"Removing a compute node from a chassis" on page 489 for instructions).
3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the
compute node with the bezel pointing toward you.
Procedure
To install the hard disk drive backplane, complete the following steps.
1. Remove the cover (see "Removing the compute node cover" on page 498).
2. To connect the backplane cable to the new hard disk drive backplane, hold
open the connector clip while you push the cable connector into the backplane
cable connector. Make sure that the connector clip clicks into place around the
backplane.
Note: Pull the retention clip forward when you install the backplane.
3. Align the new hard disk drive backplane with the hard disk drive cage and the
connector on the system board and press the backplane into position until it is
fully seated in the connector ▌1▐.
