Operational Verification

External Timebase Test

This test verifies the instrument's 10 MHz external timebase specification
by verifying that setting REF OSC to EXT allows the instrument to be
synchronized to an external reference signal.
Equipment Required
Agilent 3325A/B Synthesizer (2)
Agilent 10100C 50Ω Feedthrough Terminator
Agilent 10503 Series Coaxial Cables (BNC m to m) (2)
• To ensure that the test results are valid, the instrument and the test
equipment should be powered on for at least 30 minutes prior to
beginning the tests. This allows the internal temperatures of the
equipment to stabilize.
• These tests are appropriate for the Agilent 53147A, 53148A, and 53149A.
Connect an Agilent 10503 series coaxial cable between the output of the
first Agilent 3325A/B Synthesizer and the Reference 10MHz connector on
the instrument's rear panel (see Figure 1-1).
Connect an Agilent 10100C 50Ω Feedthrough Terminator to the Counter's
Channel 1 input connector.
Connect an Agilent 10503 series coaxial cable between the output of the
second Synthesizer and the feedthrough terminator on the Counter's
CHANNEL 1 input connector.
