The prosthetist may choose from two different control modes by inserting or removing a
Function Plug from the System Electric Hand DMC plus. The DMC plus Hand will be delivered
with the Function Plug inserted.
6 Switching the System Electric Hand DMC plus ON and OFF
6.1 Size 7
The push-button is activated by pressing it through the prosthetic glove. A time lag prevents un-
intentional activation. In order to activate the chosen function keep the button pressed down for
approx. 1 second. (Fig. 8).
6.2 Size 7¼, 7¾, 8¼
The ON / OFF switch integrated in the black housing can be activated by pressing it through the
prosthetic glove.

7 Control Modes
Notice!
The photos mentioned are valid for all hand sizes.
For optimal patient fitting, the prosthetist may choose from two different control modes
by inserting or removing the 13E185 Function Plug:
7.1 Function Plug inserted (as delivered)
The Function is identical to that of the current DMC control (Fig. 1, Fig. 2). Grip speed and grip
force are exactly determined by the strength of the muscle signal. If the muscle signal strength
varies, grip speed and grip force proportionally adapt to the new muscle signal.
7.2 Function Plug removed (Fig. 3, Fig. 4)
Grip speed and grip force are exactly determined by the strength of the muscle signal. If the muscle
signal strength varies, grip speed and grip force proportionally adapt to the new muscle signal
but after gripping once with maximum force the EMG signal required to open the Hand will be
slightly higher. This reduces the risk of the Hand opening due to unintentional muscle contraction.
Gripping security for situations such as when eating will be increased.
To change the control mode, remove the lock ring of inner hand. Pull the inner hand up enough
to remove the Function Plug (Fig. 5, Fig. 6). Pull the inner hand back in place and re-install the
lock ring. To reset the system so that it will recognise the new control mode, remove the battery,
then re-set it.
8 Adjusting the Electrodes
To gain the best possible function from the DMC plus Control the electrodes must be optimally
adjusted. This is easy with the 757M11 MyoBoy.
Notice!
The dial on the electronic control is to be used exclusively for service work. Only certified
Ottobock Myo-Service Facilities may change the position of the dial.
