2 Safety Information
Failure to follow the safety instructions given below can lead to damage to or malfunc-
tion of the product. Follow the safety instructions and the precautions specified in this
accompanying document.
• Do not use silicone spray when putting on the prosthetic glove; silicone spray may compromise
secure fit of the glove. As a mounting aid the 633S2 Ottobock Procomfort Gel is recommended.
• The System Electric Hand DMC plus and the connected components might malfunction when
near high-tension power lines, transmitters, transformers or other sources of strong electroma-
gnetic radiation (such as security systems for goods in department stores). Setting the electrode
gains as low as possible will minimise this risk.
• Before interrupting or establishing electrical connections (such as when removing the Hand
from the prosthesis), the system must be disconnected from the power supply. For this purpose,
either remove the battery from the battery receptacle or turn the prosthesis off by pressing the
button in the charging receptacle.
• If you do not achieve the expected results with the adjustments or with the chosen program,
please contact an Ottobock Myo-Service Facility.
• Instruct the patient in the appropriate handling of the System Electric Hand DMC plus as de-
scribed in Chapter 3 "Patient Information".
3 Patient Information
• Do not allow foreign particles or liquids to get into the Hand. The Hand should not be subjected
to intense smoke, dust, mechanical vibrations, shocks or high temperatures.
• Avoid staying near high-tension power lines, transmitters, transformers or other sources of strong
electromagnetic radiation (such as security systems for goods in department stores), as this
can lead to malfunction of the System Electric Hand DMC plus.
• The System Electric Hand DMC plus has been developed for everyday use and must not be
used for unusual activities such as extreme sports (free climbing, paragliding, etc.). Careful
handling of the prosthesis and its components not only increases their service life but, above all,
ensures the patient's personal safety! Should the prosthesis be subjected to unusual stresses
(such as a fall), immediately contact your prosthetist and have the prosthesis inspected for any
damage. If necessary, the responsible prosthetist will pass the prosthesis on to the Ottobock
Myo-Service.
• If the Hand is not in use, it should be left in the open position to protect the mechanism and
prosthetic glove.
• The System Electric Hand and damaged components may only be opened or repaired by certi-
fied Ottobock Myo-Service technicians.
• If the distance to HF communication devices (e.g. mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, WLAN
devices) is too small, interference with internal data communications can result in malfunctions
of the product. Therefore, keeping the following minimum distances to these HF communication
devices is recommended:
• Mobile phone GSM 850 / GSM 900: 0.99 m
• Mobile phone GSM 1800 / GSM 1900 / UMTS: 0.7 m
• DECT cordless phones incl. base station: 0.35 m
• WLAN (routers, access points,...): 0.22 m
• Bluetooth devices (third-party products not approved by Ottobock): 0.22 m
