Note: The branch circuit must be limited to 20A. It is recommended that the circuit breaker be
located near the Model FUS1020.
If unit is operational, turn power off, replace Keypad Enclosure cover using six #8 securing screws
(torque to 7 oz-in). Reinstall transducer cables.
Do not position the FUS1020 in such a way that it is difficult to operate the circuit breaker or the
disconnection device.

THE MENU LOCKOUT SWITCH

FUS1020 includes a menu lockout switch to prevent unauthorized access to the Installation Menu. In
addition, a password entry option is available (see Channel Setup in Section 6). The menu lockout
switch (S1) resides on the I/O module on the left side of I/O wiring terminal block TB1 (see below).
Please switch to the unlocked position before attempting to program the flow computer. We recom-
mend that the installation menu remains locked during normal operation.

FLOWMETER INSTALLATION SUMMARY

As you will see in the following sections, FUS1020 contains a hierarchical menu structure consisting of
sub-menus that contain individual menu locations we call menu cells. The Installation Menu Structure
chart in paragraph 2.6.2 appears comprehensive, however, do not let the size of the Installation Menu
intimidate you. FUS1020 is a universal instrument that serves many industries. Therefore, it provides a
large number of functions and features. Most menu locations already have default values installed that
never need to be edited unless you are interested in that specific function or feature. Listed below are
the minimum steps required to achieve operation with a local flow display. The figure on the next page
shows a simplified FUS1020 hardware configuration using clamp-on spool transducers.
Collect the site data (pipe and liquid data, part numbers, etc.).
Choose a mounting location for the flow computer and transducers.
Mount the flowmeter at the selected location. Note: Mounting hardware not supplied. (Refer to
Outline Drawing 1020-8 in Appendix A.)
Connect power to the flow computer. (Refer to Installation Drawing 1020-7 in Appendix A.)
Prepare pipe for transducer mounting.
Access the Installation Menu and create a site.
Enter pipe parameters and select a liquid, if required.
Invoke transducer install procedure.
Mount transducers on pipe and connect to flow computer.
Complete transducer install menu operation.
Set zero levels (generally Direct Mount applications only).
Visually inspect top cover sealing gasket, cover screws, tightness of fitting glands, and wire routing
for proper installation; otherwise, contact the Technical Service Group.
