GETTING STARTED

This section explains the two programming interfaces available for the FUS1020 flowmeter. Instruc-
tions include how to navigate through the Installation Menu using either the FUS1020 Keypad or a
personal computer. It describes the actions required to enter numeric and alphabetic data, as well as
how to select an item from lists of available options.
2.1

IMPORTANT SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

The FUS1020 Permanent flowmeter is electrical equipment that operates from either an external AC or
optional DC power source. All electric safety codes that apply to your application must be observed.
We recommend that only experienced personnel with knowledge of local electrical codes and operat-
ing safety procedures perform the installation and wiring. Since regulations vary by geographic loca-
tion, industry, etc., it is solely the user's responsibility to operate this equipment safely.
Siemens cannot accept responsibility for any damage that may occur due to failure to observe any
local safety rules. This equipment is not intended for use in Hazardous (Classified) Locations. It is the
user's responsibility to ensure that only properly trained personnel install and operate it.
If the equipment is used in a manner not specified by Siemens, the safety protection provided by the
equipment may be impaired.
Always check the unit for continued safety by visually inspecting the enclosure cover gasket for good
bonding, signs of wear and any bridging of wiring. Check the glands for proper sealing. Check the
cover for proper seating. If the gasket appears worn or has other defects, or you have concerns about
any of the other safety aspects of the FUS1020, contact the Technical Service group for servicing.

POWER CONNECTIONS

2.2.1 INPUT POWER CONNECTOR (P1) AND FUSE (F1) LOCATIONS

The standard FUS1020 flowmeter requires either 100/120/240 VAC or 9-36 VDC depending on the
model for its power input. The AC or DC power wires are connected directly to P1 terminal screws.
The power input is protected by a GMA 2A UL/CSA Listed fuse (F1), which is located under the Power
Enclosure Cover. Replace this fuse with only the exact type if it becomes necessary to do so.
