dC640 Video Path Diagnostics
Purpose
To verify the integrity of the video path in the machine. It will enable the CSE to verify if an
image quality problem is caused by electronic hardware.
Description
WARNING
Switch off the electricity to the machine, GP 14. Disconnect the power cord from the
customer supply while performing tasks that do not need electricity. Electricity can
cause death or injury. Moving parts can cause injury.
The tests that can be performed are:
1.
Scanner Video Test. This test will validate the scanner PWB and the video path between
the scanner module and the image processor calibration hardware.
2.
Network Controller/SIP Test. This test will verify the bit map between the network con-
troller and the image processing PWB.
NOTE: This test is only applicable to ST configurations with a network controller. The net-
work controller must be fully booted up to run this test.
Procedure
1.
Enter diagnostics, GP 1.
2.
Select Diagnostics Routines, Copier Routines, dC 640 Video Path Diagnostics. The Video
Path Diagnostics window will display.
3.
Select the Scanner Video Test and follow the screen instructions.
4.
If the test fails, go to the correct checkout for the speed of the machine:
(32-55 ppm). Check in the sequence that follows:
a.
The harness from the Image processing PWB to the CCD PWB, PJ110 to PJ125, PL
14.25 Item 5. Refer to Wiring Diagram 8.
b.
The harness from the Power distribution PWB to the scanner, PJ135 to PJ455 and
PJ450, PL 14.25 Item 13. Refer to Wiring Diagram 10.
c.
Install new components as necessary:
•
Image processing PWB, PL 3.20 Item 3.
•
Scanner complete assembly, PL 14.20 Item 1.
The CCD and PWB cannot be replaced separately without disturbing the opti-
cal alignment.

a.
The harness from the Image processing PWB to the scanner PWB, PJ225 to PJ127
and PJ226 to PJ125, PL 14.16 Item 6. Refer to Wiring Diagram 9
b.
The harness from the Power distribution PWB to scanner PWB, PJ135 to PJ455 and
PJ450, PL 14.16 Item 7. Refer to Wiring Diagram 10.
c.
Install new components as necessary:
•
Image processing PWB, PL 3.10 Item 3.
•
Scanner PWB, PL 14.16 Item 8.
5.
Select Network Controller/SIP Test and follow the screen instructions.
WorkCentre 5687 Family
A known image, single band with 100K bytes of a stress pattern at 600x600 x1 resolution
on the network controller is transferred to the EPC memory module on the image pro-
cessing PWB.
6.
If the test fails, check the components that follow:
•
The network controller - Firewire cable, PL 16.10 Item 12.
•
Network controller PWB connections, PL 16.10 Item 1.
•
EPC memory module connection on the image processing PWB, (32-55 ppm) PL
3.20 Item 12 or (65-87 ppm) PL 3.10 Item 12.
•
Install new components as necessary:
