Learn about quality control sheets

What are quality control sheets
Quality control sheets are extra sheets that are printed during a job. The printer uses quality
control sheets for nozzle failure detection and for nozzle cleaning.
Nozzle failure detection sheets
The printer prints nozzle failure detection sheets to inspect if nozzles work properly. When the
printer has detected failing nozzles, the nozzle failure compensation mechanism compensates for
nozzles that are not productive.
By default a nozzle detection sheet is printed after every 100 printed sheets. Moreover, when the
printer has been idle for more than 19 seconds, the first new job is preceded by a nozzle failure
detection sheet. Media optimisation parameters determine if nozzle failure detection sheets are
printed and on which sides. (

Nozzle failure compensation
The nozzle failure compensation is a fully automated mechanism. When failing nozzles are
detected, other nozzles are activated to compensate the failure. (Nozzles can react in different
ways.
• Adjacent nozzles eject larger drop sizes.
• Extra nozzles are getting involved.
• Nozzles with other ink colours are getting involved.
