Follow the troubleshooting sequence given here if the engine does not start. If the engine starts but runs poorly,
check ignition timing (see page 7·5).
WARNING: Observe the following when
performing a spark test·
• Keep open flames or sparks away from
the work area.
• Purge the cylinder of residual gasoline
by cranking 2 or 3 seconds with the
engine stop switch and fuel valve OFF.
NOTES:
• Before beginning be sure that the battery is
fully charged and all wires and cables are connected
properly.
• Each pair of spark plugs (1 ·2, 3-4) has its own ignition circuit.
• Faulty plug.

PLUG CAPS AND LEADS: Measure
resistance between caps of faulty pair.

• Faulty ignition coil.
24 :: 3.9 K Ohms
SPARK UNITS: Change coupler connec-
tions between spark units (1-2) and (3-4).
Retest.
