Figure 5-1 identifies the key features of the CDM-750 Advanced High-Speed Trunking Modem's
front panel. The front panel is used to fully control and monitor the CDM-750's operation.
The front panel features (from left) eight Light-Emitting Diode (LED) Indicators, a six-button
keypad, and a Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD). The user enters data via the keypad – nested
menus display all available options and prompt the user to carry out a required action – and
messages are displayed on the VFD. The LEDs indicate, in a summary fashion, the status of the
unit.
The function and behavior of the LED indicators, keypad, and VFD are described in detail in this
chapter.
