6.7 Auto-Tuning Fault Detection
Digital Operator Display
Cause
One of the motor phases is missing:
(U/T1, V/T2, W/T3).
Current exceeded the current rating of the drive.
The current is too low.
Attempted Auto-Tuning without motor connected to
the drive.
Current detection signal error.

Drive was unable to complete tuning for leakage
inductance within 300 seconds.

The motor speed exceeded twice the amplitude of
speed reference during Inertia Tuning.

when b1-04 was set to 1.
Either the motor or the PG encoder on the motor is

The direction for the PG encoder is set incorrectly, or
the number of pulses set for the PG encoder is
wrong.

Current Detection Error
Check motor wiring and correct any problems.
• Check the motor wiring for a short between motor lines.
• If a magnetic contactor is used between motors, make sure it is closed.
• Replace either the control board or the entire drive. For instructions on replacing the control board, contact Yaskawa or your nearest
sales representative.

Leakage Inductance Error
• Check all wiring and correct any mistakes.
• Double check the motor rated current value that was entered to T1-04 for Auto-Tuning.
• Check the motor rated current value written on the motor nameplate and enter the correct value.

Reduce the ASR gain set to C5-01.

Torque Saturation Error
• Increase the torque limits in L7-01 through L7-04 (but keep them within reasonable limits).
• First try reducing the test signal frequency in T3-01 and repeat the tuning. If necessary, then try reducing the test signal amplitude
(T3-02) and repeat the tuning.

Inertia ID Error
• First try reducing the test signal frequency in T3-01 and repeat the tuning. If necessary, then try reducing the test signal amplitude
(T3-02) and repeat the tuning.
• Check the basic motor inertia value entered to T3-03.

Reverse Prohibited Error
• Inertia Auto-Tuning cannot be performed if the drive is restricted from rotating in reverse.
• Assuming it is acceptable for the application to rotate in reverse, set b1-04 to 0 and then execute Inertia Tuning.

Double check the data that was entered to the T2- parameters, and perform Auto-Tuning again.

Double check the data that was entered to the T2- parameters, and perform Auto-Tuning again.

Double check the data that was entered to the T2- parameters, and perform Auto-Tuning again.

Z Pulse Correction Error
Perform Auto-Tuning with the motor without a load and with b1-04 set to 0.
Check the wiring for the motor and the PG encoder. Repeat Auto-Tuning.
Check the direction and number of pulses set for the PG encoder. Repeat Auto-Tuning.
Check the signal output from the PG encoder attached to the motor. Replace the PG if damaged.
