9-29. INSTALLATION OF FUEL VALVES. (Refer to Figure 9-9.)
a.
Place the valve in position and secure.
b.
Connect the lines to the valve.
c. Connect the control cable to the valve and check for proper adjustment. (Refer to paragraphs 9-30, 9-
31 or 9-32.)
d.
Allow fuel to flow to valve and check for leaks.
e.
Install access plates.
9-30. ADJUSTMENT OF SELECTOR CONTROL VALVE.
a.
Remove the access panels located on the underside of the fuselage, below the fuel selector panel
at the base of the control pedestal and between the fuselage and the underside of the wings.
b.
Ascertain that the control cable clevis is connected to the selector valve and that the valve is in
neutral or OFF position. The clevis on the valve handle should be free to rotate.
c.
Place the fuel selector handle in the cockpit in neutral or OFF position.
d.
Assemble the control cable clevis on the selector handle and secure with clevis pin, washer and
cotter pin.
e.
Actuate the selector to ascertain that the valve moves into its detents.
f.
After adjustment is made on the valve, ascertain that proper switch adjustment is made on the
fuel selector lever.
1.
Remove fuel selector panel cover.
2.
With electrical power on the aircraft and a differential of fuel in each tank, operate the fuel
selector lever and ascertain that the fuel gauges register proper amounts when lever is moved from tank to
tank. If there is not a differential when lever is moved, make adjustment to the limit switch on the fuel
selector panel assembly.
3.
Loosen the screws holding the switch to the assembly and move the switch to proper
position.
4.
Check proper operation; then reinstall fuel selector panel.
g.
Reinstall the access panels.
9-31. ADJUSTMENT OF CROSSFEED VALVE.
a.
Remove the fuel selector panel cover in the cockpit and the access panel to the control valve
located below the fuselage and the underside of the left wing.
b.
Ascertain that the control cable clevis end is connected to the crossfeed valve. The clevis on the
valve handle should be free to rotate.
c.
Place the crossfeed handle in the cockpit in the OFF position.
d.
Assemble the control cable clevis on the arm of the crossfeed handle. Adjust the clevis end of the
control cable to obtain a maximum of seven-sixteenths of an inch between the center of the pin that goes
through the valve and valve body. (Refer to Figure 9-10.)
e.
Move the crossfeed handle to the ON position and ascertain that there is a minimum of one inch
between the center of the shaft pin and the valve body.
f.
Install safety wire through roll pin and around crossfeed control shaft.
g.
Actuate the selector to ascertain proper operation and maximum and minimum travel of the
valve shaft.
h.
Reinstall the access and selector panels.
9-32. ADJUSTMENT OF FIRE WALL SHUTOFF VALVE.
a.
Remove the fuel selector panel cover in the cockpit and the access panel to the control valve
located just ahead of the main spar between the fuselage and the underside of the wing.
b.
Ascertain that the control cable clevis ends are connected to the arm of the shutoff lever in the
cockpit and the arm of the shutoff valve. Allow the jam nuts of the devises to remain loose.
