5. Removal of Fuel Valves
(a) Ensure crossfeed valve is off when removing either of the two shutoff valves. Proceed as
follows:
(1.) Drain all fuel from side of system affected.
(2.) Remove bottom wing root panel to gain access to valve on forward spar reinforcement
plate.
(3.) Disconnect lines from valve. Cap lines and remove valve by unscrewing screws from self
locking nuts. Disconnect control cable from actuating arm.
(b) To remove crossfeed valve, drain fuel from both systems. In left root cavity in front of fuel
pump, disconnect valve from its bracket, tee fitting, and crossfeed line.
6. Installation of Fuel Valves
(a) Place valve in proper position. Secure to mounting bracket or with attachment clamps,
depending on valve being installed.
(b) Connect proper fuel lines to valve. Connect control cable to actuator arm with attaching
hardware.
(c) Check valve and end fittings for leaks by filling tank with fuel.
(d) Install lower wing root fairing.
7. Removal of Fuel Filter Screen
(a) Close fuel shutoff valve.
(b) Drain fuel from filter assembly. Remove drain valve lever from fuel filter assembly by removing
clamp attached to filter bowl.
(c) Unscrew drain valve from filter bowl.
(d) Unscrew filter bowl from body.
(e) Remove screen and inspect seals on retainer and body assembly. If seals are deteriorated or
damaged, replace by scraping them off their fixture (or replace retainer) and gluing on new
ones.
(f) Remove old O-ring in body assembly.
8. Installation of Fuel Filter Screen
(a) Ensure screen seals on body assembly and retainer are in good condition and solidly mounted.
(b) Install new O-ring in body.
(c) Insert screen in bowl and install bowl on body.
(d) Attach drain fitting and drain lever.
