PERATION OF THE
To estimate the cellularity of the preparation in scantly cellular specimens, a specimen adequacy
check can be also performed. In accordance with Bethesda 2001 criteria
should be counted along a diameter of the cell spot that includes the center. Dependent upon the
microscope objective used, use the chart below and count the average number of cells in each field. If
this step is necessary, use the joystick to traverse the cell spot.

Review Marked Fields
If areas on the slide were electronically marked, they may be reviewed prior to scanning the slide.
This function is optional and does not have to be done to complete the slide review procedure. To
review marks, press the Review soft key.
The display lists how many electronic marks were made. Similar to operation of the Autolocate func-
tion, the Review Marks function allows the operator to:
Move among electronic marks using the Next and Prev buttons on the pod
Move the field of view by manipulating the joystick
Change the objective magnification by pressing the Objective button
Add and remove electronic marks by using the Mark button
All marks are presented at 10X magnification. The objective will be returned to 10X prior to advanc-
ing to the next location. When the desired marks have been reviewed, press the Scan soft key to pro-
ceed to slide scanning.
