5 Joystick Setup
The joystick setup selects the frame of reference on which the slide movement is based and then sets
the speed of movement. From the preferences menu, select 5, Joystick Setup. Press the cancel key
at any time to exit out of menus.
The frame of reference orients the perceived direction of the slide movement when the joystick is
manipulated.
User based frame of reference is like typical microscope movement - if the joystick is moved
upward, the cells appear to move downward.
Slide based frame of reference means the cells appear to move in the same direction as the
direction of the joystick movement. (Moving the joystick upward will cause the cells to appear
to move upward.)
Press the number key on the console keypad that corresponds with your choice. The selected direc-
tion will have a highlighted box around it. Press the Test soft key to view the orientation of the slide
movement when the joystick is moved.
The joystick orientation preference test display appears. Look through the eyepieces and view the
response of the slide when the joystick is moved around. Press the Next button on the pod to return
to the frame of reference setup display.
Press the Save soft key to save that preference.
Next the Joystick Speed Setting display appears.
