corresponding dual keys (fire alarm, hold up alarm, medical alarm) on the alarm
system or control device.

You are using the touch front on the alarm system. The backlighting is set to
"When active" and the backlighting is dark.
The backlighting is first activated when a key has been touched (first touch).
No other action results from this "first touch". The keypad functions as normal
from the second touch on.
