V ehicles in d e a le r inventory require periodic battery inspection and if necessary, su pp lem en tal charging.
N O T E : If th e veh icle's m aintenance free battery is excessively discharged, conventional charging procedures
will not return the battery to full power.
This bulletin contains the following:
IN S P E C T IO N R E C C O M M E N D A T IO N S

1. M e a s u re th e voltage with a digital voltmeter.
2 . If th e voltage is 12.4 V or m ore, th e battery is in norm al condition.
3. If th e voltage is less than 12.4V, the battery requires a quick charge prior to load testing. Quick
ch a rg e by setting the charge rate of the battery ch arg e to the "highest" o r "boost" position. R efer to
th e tab le on page 3.
4. Load test the battery. R efer to th e table on page 2 for minimum voltage specifications.
5. If not within specification, contact your D C S M for authorization prior to replacing th e battery. S e e w ar­
ranty information on p ag e 3.
6 . D o not install th e 'R O O M * fuse. This will m inim ize the drainage on th e b attery from th e C P U , instru­
m en t panel, etc.
N O T E : R em ove "R O O M " fuse on Navajo and B -S eries vehicles.

M e a s u re th e b attery voltage at least once per m onth. If th e voltage is less th an 1 2 .4 V , perform a quick charge
according to th e table on page 3.

1. M e a s u re the battery voltage.
2 . If th e voltage is 1 2 .4 V o r m ore, th e battery is in norm al condition an d th e vehicle m ay b e delivered.
3 . If th e voltage is less than 1 2 .4 V perform a quick charge according to th e tab le on p ag e 3 prior to deliv­
ery.
N O T E : Reinstall the R O O M fuse just prior to delivery. This will d e c re a s e th e am ount of 'k e y o f f volt­
a g e that is drained from th e battery.
If the battery voltage m easured less than 12.4V, driving th e vehicle will not sufficiently charge
th e battery.
IMPORTANT: Service and Parts Managers should read this bulletin carefully, sign and convey all information to those concerned.
